The most anticipated IT event in Cyprus is upon us: HackTech’24 open hackathon, which returns on 23-24 of November for the third time, will feature special challenges and the biggest prize pool yet.

Put your coding hat on; it is time to make a difference!

In Case You Missed It: What is HackTech?

HackTech Open Hackathon is an annual coding competition held in Limassol, Cyprus, and organized by AdTech Holding. Participants have only 48 hours to develop a working prototype and then present their project to the judges in the most compelling way.

Dates & Location:

November 23-24, 2024
Limassol
The Warehouse by IT Quarter

Quick facts about HackTech:

  • It’s completely FREE for participants.
  • Awesome conditions for participants: food & drinks, relaxation zones, goody bags, networking – 98% of last year’s participants loved how the event was organized.
  • This is the third hackathon; the first one took place in 2022.
  • Previous events were proudly endorsed by industry leaders and organizations such as the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, TechIsland, IAB Europe, and others.
  • Unlike other hackathons, HackTech has 7 winners. This gives participants the maximum opportunity for recognition. 3 winners in each challenge + People’s Choice winner.
  • In addition to the prizes, the organizers will provide the winners with exclusive media support and the opportunity to meet investors who can support the participants in the further development of their ideas.

3 Reasons Why This Year’s Hackathon is So Special

Now in its third year, HackTech continues to delight the IT community with new and exciting experiences as we listen carefully to the feedback we receive from attendees. In fact, the surveys we sent out made us rethink certain aspects.

Let’s see what has changed:

1. A strong focus on social impact: Putting people first

HackTech’24 will introduce new challenges with a strong focus on social development to give our community (and ourselves) the attention we deserve. As part of one of the challenges, you will have the opportunity to delve into education, health and sports niches.

What does all this mean? This means that our hackathon is becoming more inclusive, opening its doors to a wider range of participants, not just hardcore IT experts but also specialists with expertise in more diverse fields.

Our CEO, Alexander Vasekin, says:

“By focusing too much on technology, we tend to forget about the end user—people like you and me. So, what we often get are really cool technologies that a very narrow group of people use. We thought it was time to turn the situation around and create projects that would benefit a larger part of society.”

2. Exclusive support for winners: More exposure

The winners of each challenge will have the opportunity to present their solutions to potential investors, increasing their chances of implementation and success. Our mentors will help the teams hone their pitches to make their projects as attractive as possible.

Challenge winners will also receive exclusive media coverage, including feature articles and interviews.

3. BIG prize pool: € 30,000

Although great experiences cannot be measured in money, we want our winners to enjoy their victory to the fullest and have an initial budget for further project development.

In addition to the main prize pool, you can expect a special People’s Choice award and gifts from our sponsors and partners. A true celebration!

New Challenges – More Opportunities

We have been teasing you about our new challenges. This year’s event will revolve around personal well-being (new!)  and improving life in Cyprus (as it did last year).

Let’s see the requirements:

1. Self-improvement (New!)

Projects that aim to educate, improve health, or support physical development (sports). Be sure to demonstrate how your app/website/tool will improve someone’s well-being. It must also be unique, have business potential, and be easily scalable.

2. IT Solution to Improve Life in Cyprus

Whatever charitable, environmental, cultural, or business idea you have for our island, your team can make it happen. The project must bring real value to the community, be new to Cyprus, have business potential, and be easily scalable.

“We continue to experiment because we want to keep our challenges diverse to ensure that participants explore more areas of technology application. What areas of our lives can be automated, what tasks can be simplified – these are the questions we want the teams to answer,” – says Konstantin Kuznetsov, Chief Product Officer at AdTech Holding.

An Even More Powerful Team Of Sponsors

As you know, the sponsors have a huge impact on the event, and that’s why we wanted to bring together the companies that have a similar vision and values.
